I must admit that I am a bit of a foodie, hence my love of photographing food and anything to do with it. Having spent the last twenty years as a photographer, I have learnt many of the skills needed for good food photography. Earlier this year I was on BBC TV’s Ready Steady Cook show as a food photographer, and my food photography has gone from strength to strength since.

In
spring 2009 I was commissioned to photograph a range of tomatoes for a
leading UK importer. The brief was open, I could do just about anything
as long as the tomatoes looked stunning and fitted the crop for each page
in a book that was to be produced. I chose to shoot them on a dark background
to show the colours off at their best, and with minimal propping so we
could produce a series of photos that had a common style.

The studio is based in Hertfordshire, close to the A1M and with easy links to central london which is only 25 miles away. We have a fully fitted kitchen and use high end digital cameras with a fully calibrated colour workflow. The shooting area of 740 square feet is more than ample for most subjects, it has a large 11x13' floating ceiling that can be lowered and tilted to control lighting, together will all the usual lighting and reflectors needed to produce quality photographs. There is a balcony area suitable for a high viewpoint and a courtyard garden which can used for shooting as well. |
